Ingredients for fresh homemade Starbucks Chocolate Croissant
- All-Purpose Flour: 2 1/4 Cups
- Granulated Sugar: 1/4 Cup
- Active Dry Yeast (About 2 1/4 Teaspoons): 1 Packet
- Salt: 1/2 Teaspoon
- Unsalted Butter, Cold And Cubed: 3/4 Cup
- Cold Milk: 3/4 Cup
- Chocolate Chips Or Chopped Chocolate (Dark Or Semi-Sweet): 1 Cup
- Egg, Beaten (For Egg Wash): 1
- Powdered sugar: (for dusting, optional)

1 Prepare the Dough
- 1 Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2 Add Milk: Gradually add the cold milk and gently mix until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- 3 Knead Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it forms a cohesive ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (about 12 hours).

2 Shape and Assemble
- 1 Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2 Add Chocolate: Sprinkle the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate evenly over half of the dough.
- 3 Fold and Seal: Fold the other half of the dough over the chocolate-covered half. Gently press the edges together to encase the chocolate.
- 4 Cut and Shape: Cut the folded dough into triangles, starting from the folded edge. Gently stretch each triangle slightly, then roll from the wider end toward the tip to form croissant shapes.
- 5 Proof Croissants: Place the shaped croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Wrap them with plastic wrap and allow them to proof at room temperature for approximately 1 to 2 hours, or until they've expanded and doubled in size.

- 1 Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2 Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the proofed croissants with the beaten egg to give them a glossy finish.
- 3 Place the croissants in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
